Yahye is the youngest child in a loving family of five, consisting of his brother Abdirahman, his two sisters Naima and Afnan, and his devoted mother. The family is very close-knit and supports each other through life’s ups and downs, especially during difficult times.

His mother is a hardworking woman who plays a central role in the family’s daily life. She manages to balance her responsibilities at home with working to support her children. Her dedication and determination inspire Yahye and his siblings, teaching them the importance of perseverance and resilience.

Yahye is a 2.5-year-old boy with extraordinary strength who has courageously faced the challenges of a congenital heart disease since birth. This condition has had a significant impact on his life, limiting his ability to perform daily activities. The heart disease has also limited the development of his feet, preventing him, until now, from learning to walk. Enjoying the carefree joys of his youth has been impossible for him until now. His family, deeply concerned for his well-being, has struggled on all fronts, including financially, finding it difficult to manage the costs of medical care and possible surgeries.

In his hour of need, Liban Abdi, a generous activist originally from Somaliland and currently living in Qatar for work, contacted the NGOs “GOL” and “One Heart One World,” an organization dedicated to providing free lifesaving surgeries to children with congenital heart defects. This opportunity was a beacon of hope for Yahye and his family, who were overwhelmed with gratitude when they learned that Yahye was eligible for the surgery he desperately needed.

The surgery was extremely urgent; consultations diagnosed a short survival rate and therefore the urgency of immediate intervention. Having found no short-term solution in Italy, Un Cuore Un Mondo agreed to support the journey of hope to India, to Amrita Hospital in Kerala, where the child underwent successful surgery and is now on his way home with his mother.

Now that the surgery has been successfully completed, Yahye’s family is filled with joy and relief. They are amazed by the transformation in Yahye’s health and energy levels and look forward to seeing him thrive in the months to come. The family is especially grateful to the doctors and nurses who dedicated their time and expertise to ensure the surgery went smoothly. They recognize the profound impact these compassionate professionals have had on Yahye’s life.

With hearts full of gratitude, Yahye’s family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to all the staff at Un Cuore Un Mondo and GOL for making this life-changing surgery possible.

One Heart, One World thanks Liban Abdi for believing in this gesture of solidarity and for his strong support of the request for free assistance from GOL and the Kerala Hospital.

As Yahye awaits his full recovery, the family is excited about the possibilities that await him: watching him grow, play, and enjoy life to the fullest. Yahye’s journey is a testament to resilience, hope, and the incredible difference that kindness and support can make in the lives of those in need.

ONE HEART, ONE WORLD is with children all over the world!
