SOMALILAND: More than 25 children are currently receiving care at the pediatric hospital in Hargeisa. Unfortunately, the pediatric hospital lacks a cardiac operating room and an extracorporeal circulation system (heart-lung machine). Consequently, it has been necessary to arrange for surgeries by taking patients to another country. This involves covering the costs of each procedure, airfare, and accommodation for the families—an effort supported by various organizations, most notably ONE HEART ONE WORLD SOMALILAND, an association whose founding was fostered by UN CUORE UN MONDO.
Following an initial year in which 5 children underwent successful surgery, the project has continued into the current year, 2026, with 6 additional cases. “Un Cuore Un Mondo” has contributed to the expenses for these 6 surgeries, allocating €3,500.00 for each—a total budget of €21,000.00. On October 14th, the sixth patient—10-year-old Amaani—was admitted to Amrita Hospital; the previous five cases were all successful, with the children returning home in good health.
